| Significant Revenue Improvement Seen in H1 2012: BOE Expected to Make Profit in Q3 |

Aug 28, 2012, BOE released interim financial report. It reveals that BOE generated RMB9.608 billion from January to June in revenue, increasing 94.5% compared with the same period of the last year and that net profit seen a year-on-year growth of 35.3%. In the period, Hefei G6 production line achieved profitability in June. In addition, Beijing G8.5 production line, Hefei G6 production line, Beijing G5 production line and Chengdu G4.5 production line maximized production ability to the full designed level. Thus, BOE jumped into world Top 5 in terms of shipment volume and is expected to achieve profitability on the third quarter this year.
BOE points out that it reduced losses by RMB 0.4 billion in the first half year compared with the same period of the last year and RMB 0.2 billion on the second quarter compared with the first quarter. As one of the top players of the display industry in terms of gross profit, BOE has been gradually raising its profitability. Scale effect is taking place. BOE’s product competitiveness has increased dramatically through innovation in terms of product, technology, business model and management mechanism.
Industrial analysis has attributed BOE’s good performance to the maximum input capacity of G6 production line and increasing input capacity of G8.5 production line. Besides, optimized product structure of G5 production line and stable operation of G4.5 production line guarantee substantial growth of main revenue to some degree.
More specifically, G8.5 production line achieved full input capacity in July and 94% yield. As a result, revenue is increasing sequentially. In H1 2012, revenue increased by 2.23 billion compared with the same period and will continue to rise. G6 production line, as the first advanced line, has sped up transition to miniaturization and development of high value-added products. It keeps full input capacity and achieved monthly profitability of RMB 17 million which establishes the foundation for the group to make profit on the third quarter. In addition, G4.5 production line, as the most important line of small sized panel, mainly produces panels for mobile phone, digital camera and GPS. G5 production line smoothly achieved transition to miniaturization and mainly produces panels for mobile phone and tablet. In the first half year, BOE has successively brought out series of products with its own technology named ADSDS, including 3D display, transparent display, ultrabook display and energy-saving display. In the future, BOE will bring out products with super high definition, autostereoscopic display, oxide display and AMOLED. With mass quantity and good quality, BOE has been cooperator with many leading companies such as Lenovo, Haier, HP, Dell, Samsung and MOTO. |
